Why You Feel Sad
Feeling sad is a natural emotion. It happens to everyone at some point and it can be understood that a sad event sparks a feeling of sadness within you. But why are you feeling sad all the time? If you are feeling sad all the time and you can't pinpoint what's really causing this sadness, then it's time to take a deeper look at why you feel sad.
Just as there are many facets to each emotion such as fear and excitement, sadness also manifests in various moments of your life, in various forms but all in all, it boils down to one reason: you are not connected to your true self.
What Causes Sadness
The purpose of any emotion is to tell you if you are connected to your spirit or inner self. What this means is that you know what makes you feel good and what you need to do to stay on the path of your journey to a successful life. When you get off that path, then you'll start feeling sad and negative emotions. You might feel the need to argue that your sadness is due to someone else's actions or a circumstance but that is only partially true. Why? Because, in any given moment you have the power to choose what feeling, what emotion or what description you want to interpreted that situation with. When you learn to get connected with your inner self or heart, then you learn to give those feelings empowerment.
Getting Connected
The importance in any given moment is to recognize how you are feeling and determine how you want to feel. If you have lost a loved one and this is adding to your feelings of loneliness, you have the choice to decide if you want to continue feeding that feeling or find a way to get reconnected to that love and feeling of fulfillment that you had when you were with that person. What you need to understand in this instance is that the other person didn't make you feel good, you felt good being around this person because...(fill in the blank). If you felt like you could let your true colors shine when you with this loved one, then recognize that truth and know that you can still be you and other people will love you as well. Grief is a deep and painful emotion. If you are suffering grief then seeking professional help or counseling in some form will be very beneficial in helping you get reconnected to the joy you have within you.
Not All Sadness is Caused by The Loss of Someone
That permanent feeling of sadness is really a sign from your heart to your mind telling you that you are not living your life to your highest potential. What are you hiding from? What are you not ready to embrace or become? Sadness, like depression is often a sign that we are not following our hearts to live the lives we dream of living. It is difficult to make the changes that we have to make in our lives to move out of rut we are currently living. It takes courage and a little faith to embark on a new journey.
Feelings of entrapment in your lifestyle and emotions of sadness are two ways your mind works to hide that connection to your heart. To find out more about how to discover what is making you sad, take some time to journal about your feelings about your life in general. If you could change something in your life right now that would make your heart sing, what would it be? If you can't find the answer on your own, don't be afraid to reach out to others. Support is all around you. The first step is always to ask.
